Halloween

Halloween was a fun time for all. Unfortunately for Emma, she had her 2-year old doctor visit, so she had to get two shots. She had gained 2 lbs. and grew 1 in. So 60th for weight and 40th percentile for height.

She soon recovered once she got to Katelyn’s school for the costume parade and Halloween party. She loved seeing all of the kiddos traipse by in their different costumes. I kept her on my back in the carrier for the party so that I wasn’t having to chase her down the entire time. It worked out pretty well. They had ghost cookies, jell-o shaped like ghosts and pumpkins, veggies and dip, and crackers and cheese. They made a little ghost from a tootsie pop and kleenexes and played a quiet game. After the party, we went over to the V’s house for our annual halloween bash. The adults had chicken salad, yummy orange salad and pumpkin bread. The kids looked at all of that on their plates and maybe took a couple of bites. They were a little too excited about Trick or Treating!

We got a little late start, so we rushed to get the costumes on and get over to the school for the walk thru there. We had to have someone handing out candy as there was a constant line of kids at the door. After a few pics in the front yard, we were finally off. Emma dutifully held out her bucket for candy, but Baba had to hold her when we went up to one table with some scary music. Once we got out of the school, it started to rain, so we rushed through a few houses, then sent Josh back for the van. By the time we got back to the house, the rain stopped. Nathan and Katelyn were ready to go back out, because they wanted MORE CANDY!! Soon the youngers were wanting more too! I think they were all happy with their loot. I am having to hide the candy from Mei-mei as she thinks it is a free-for-all. We wound up the evening with some hot apple cider with caramel stirred in--my new, absolutely favorite fall drink!!!!
