- If you are looking for more pics, make sure to look at the albums on the left. It is easier to upload to as it takes to long to put them in an actual blog post.
- Emma is a true Fisher, she wakes up reaaaaalllly slowly!
- Tuesday morning we were like the Truman show as we did the webcam with a roomful of our family and I mean a roomful! It was really sweet and emotional as they all watched Emma have her first breakfast with us of a bottle and some cheerios.
- Maddie my cousin Kelly’s 3-year old daughter said "Tell them to come home!" That made me cry!
- Emma decided that she only wanted Mama from here on out when Mama had to take a shower. So she cried when Baba tried to hold her.
- We signed all the paperwork and met the main director of the orphanage.
- Director told Katelyn she was very beautiful. They took a picture together with Emma.
- Emma had her first poop for us in the Civil Affairs office! Nice, huh!!
- We stuck our thumbs on red ink and put our thumbprints over our signature.
- We had to tell why we wanted to adopt a child from China and answer a few questions about ourselves.
- We came back and Emma took almost a 3 hour nap!
- I bought some really cute clothes for Emma at a store just down the street from the hotel. They were a super great price too!
- We also bought squeaky shoes for Emma and some canvas MJ’s for Katelyn for about $7.50 US for both pair.
- I think I am going to have a major shoe shopping trip in GZ.
- Emma loves putting on pretty things, and she really loves shoes. What more can I say–she is my child!
- We had a really adventurous eating experience when we went out on our own Tuesday evening. It was a good thing that I had some cards where we could point to different words to show what we meant.
- Josh jokes that we ate monkey brains. It wasn’t THAT bad!
- Emma started really playing with Katelyn Tuesday night at dinner while she was eating Cheerios from her Snack Trap–one of man’s greatest inventions to aid mother’s of toddlers.
- We tried to find McDonald’s, but we only found the ice cream shop McDonalds. We later found out that we did not go far enough down Hunan road.
- Hunan Road is an awesome shopping district, does anyone need to know how much I love that??
- Emma loves pretty much all foods, especially watermelon! Grandpa and Aunt Sara will be glad for that!!
- Saw my first child in split pants peeing in the middle of the walkway of what used to be a farmers market and is now kind of like 4th Street Live in downtown Louisville.
- Motorcycles drive on the sidewalks.
- Vans sometimes drive on the sidewalks.
- It is scary to cross the roads.
- Hip hammocks work well, except for someone did not design the shoulder strap very well. I think I am going to have to re-work that when we get home and buy some foam or something.
- Emma does not like the stroller, thus the need for the hip hammock shoulder strap to work better!
- Emma only lets Mama hold her, thus the need for the hip hammock shoulder strap to work better!
- There was an international shop on Hunan road where you can buy some familiar Western stuff if you have a need.
- My sister-in-law Leah would just flip over all of the Hello Kitty stuff here!! They had a bakery with Hello Kitty sign in front.
- I should have listened when the shop girl at the Yishion store tried to tell me I needed and XL. Yep, they make the clothing for Chinese women smaller than they do at home.
- Pizza Hut is 8 blocks away, but we held off eating it until Thursday night.
- Jane picked it up for us and met us at the hotel lobby after we returned from the orphanage.
- Our paperwork was all done on Thursday.
- You have to use the room key to turn the power on in the room.
- There is a little slot by the door and you stick it in.
- If you take it out, you will have trouble turning on your lights!
- Most of the lights in the room are controlled by a console on the night stand. It takes some getting used to and trying to figure out what switch goes to what light.
- There is a military base on Hunan road.
- The soldiers there are very stoned face.
- A lot of young people milling about.
- There were a few soldiers too.
- If you smile at the soldiers, their face softens just a touch.
- We went to Ming Tomb and the Nanjing Museum on Wednesday. It was magical and amazing. The heat could not keep me away from that place.
- It was difficult maneuvering 2 kids on the uneven stone walkways and steps, with one who only wanted Mama to hold, and the other who is extremely hot-blooded and doesn’t like the heat too well, but it was worth every precious moment to see the things we saw.
- The private garden at Ming Tomb was beyond description. I felt like I was transported back to a time where dragons were alive and magical things happen.
- Katelyn and Emma are now the proud owners of a gorgeous Jade pendant with their birth sign on it.
- I saw my first chicken tongues and chicken claws at dinner with
Jane on Wednesday night. - No worries, we did not eat them.
- Dinner was a much more inviting affair as we had someone with us who knew what to order.
Yum! - We had Beijing Duck–all three parts of duck in 3 different dishes to honor the duck.
- The duck soup was very salty.
- I really liked the duck meat with sauteed celery.
- I am in love with how the Chinese prepare eggplant. I think I need some recipes.
- I do not like their bean curd which was supposed to taste like
cheese. I didn’t taste the correlation, but Emma really liked it! - Their spring rolls rock!! I could have eaten 20 of them.
- Emma goes to sleep like a dream. Just lay her down in the crib and off she goes.
- She likes soy formula better than milk formula.
- She doesn’t like rice cereal.
- Emma loves Gerber Mango fruit dessert and peaches.
- Sweet Potato Puffs are very addicting for babies!
- She looks so sweet in a hat–well for the 2 seconds she has it on!
- Did I say that Emma likes snacks?
- She has about cleaned us out of all that I brought and I thought I brought a lot!!!
- I am getting addicted to this bulleted list thing.
- Can you tell?
- Emma is starting to like her Taggie and she is rubbing on the silky part of her blanket too when she goes to sleep.
- Emma loves the drinkable yogurt they have here. I mean she loves it.
- As in I may need to buy some cases and have it shipped home!
- The yogurt container looks like the kind of container we eat yogurt from, but you stick a straw in it and drink it.
- Any experienced Mamas know what I can buy at home that is similar to this? Katelyn doesn’t like yogurt, so I am not well versed.
- The hotel room has gotten smaller as of tonight. Emma decided to be more brave and toddlerish and explore things like cords and computers and anything up high that can be pulled down! yikes!
- It is hard to baby proof hotel rooms
- I hope that the next hotel is a mansion sized room! Ha, ha! Well, at least a double bed so that I can sleep with my hubby again.
- The Cleavers aren’t so cool!
- Katelyn may need her own suite there!
- She is used to having alone time, and she sure isn’t getting any here!
- It is good for her to have to spend quality time in close approximation with her parents and sister!
- My Papa would love the beds here. They are very nice and FIRM!
- Thank goodness for the big comforters they put on it.
- I must sleep, but you may get some more bullets when I come up with them!

I agree, the bullets are fun! It makes it easier to read, and I too am an addict! There are lots of brands of drinkable yogurt here…Jonathan used to beg me to buy it when he was little. I understand Katelyn’s need to be alone! I’m feeling that need here at camp too! I’m so glad to hear things are going so well! Less than a week now and you will bring Emma home at last!!

I meant “his mom drank IT”… as in… yogurt… she didn’t “drink” regularly… yeah, so… anyway…

I was talking to Jon about drinking yogurt, and he said his mom drank regularly when he was in school (probably after Josh was out of the house). Anyway, we found it tonight in the health food section at the grocery store- it’s called Kifer. It is, of course, organic and wholly healthy.
What about even the yogurt smoothies? There are several brands of them with the regular yogurt… I’m sure it’s not exactly what they’ve got in China, but it must be close!

Shop ’till you drop-just tell Josh you’re saving money!
The bullets crack me up…keep em up. There is a Gymbo outlet here in Lancaster, PA, that you would love. Emma’s going to enjoy all the fruits of the summer once you return home. Glad to hear she’s such a good eater and sleeper.

You are so funny! I like the bullets! Don’t worry, there is a lot of drinkable yogurt back home! It is the only reason Camryn is alive today (along with peanut butter of course)
Enjoy all that shopping! I want a picture of your suitcases when you get home - like a before and after. I only thought it was full when you left - sounds like you may need to buy another one while you’re there!! Keep the bullets coming - I, too, am an addict to your site.
