Busy, busy, busy. . .

We are busy doing some outside projects right now, like staining our deck and extending our patio a little. So I am doing a bulleted post of some thoughts and things to remember.

  • First, the gopher. We have had these guys in our yard for a while. We caught one of them just long enough to take a picture and then he escaped in the transfer back to the box. Oops! When Josh pinned him down with the shovel, Katelyn said "Dad, sometimes it is not good to kill God's creatures." That is why he was going to be put in the lovely box and taken far, far away. Once he escaped, we were all running around the yard like crazy people trying to catch it again. We think he may have drowned as we filled his hole with water and he never came back up. Don't worry, there is still one more out there. The latest advice is to have a dog urinate in our yard. Anyone have a dog we can borrow? Maybe we will have to bring the VW's dog Jessie over.

  • The UPS man came by today with my monthly order of herbs and vitamins. He came out back to deliver while we were staining and asked if we had the baby yet! He said he went back and told all of his co-workers that he had delivered his first baby that day when we got our letter!! Isn't that great??? I told him we would take a picture of him with Emma when she is home. He was wondering when we were going to get her! Too, too cute. I think I have a new friend in brown.

  • I am in the zone and packing away. It is so much fun. (Will share a pic soon.) I just hope it all fits as I am taking some cleft bottles for the orphanage, an orphanage relief pack that Homeland Children's Foundation sends to you for free to carry to the orphanages, and some care packages for two other little boys in Emma's orphanage whose parents are paperchasing still. Homeland Children's will be doing a project in Emma's orphanage in July. They previously supplied new cribs to the orphanage in July 2003, which are the ones that Emma sleeps on right now. You can read more about that here . I will keep you updated if any of you are interested in it, when they share what they will be doing there.

  • Sara, we will get Emma about 3 days after we arrive in China. We go to Beijing for a couple of days, then fly to Nanjing and we will get her either that same day or the next morning. She stays with us for the rest of the time.

  • I can't think of anything else right now, but I will update if something comes to mind.
