Getting closer. . .

We are in the final stages of paperwork here. I will probably head to Lansing and get our documents sealed by the state this week and then send them all off to the Chinese consulate in Chicago. I was going to wait until next week when we would be driving through there on our way to Kentucky, but I need to get everything ready just in case the elusive I 171-H decides to show up. If it does before the last week of November, we could be DTC (Dossier to China) Dec. 1st. That would be wonderful, but I am not really holding my breath. If it (I 171-H) does not show up in time, we will have to wait until Jan. 1st to be DTC with the measly exception that a lot of people get their dossiers completed sometime mid December. If that happens they will send out another batch in December.

I posted this in my last comments post, but apparently we got lucky with this whole immigrations thing. Our China consultant told us that we were one of the last ones to go to the immigrations office in St. Saulte Marie, Michigan. Because of that, we were able to get fingerprinted BEFORE our home study. The people that had to send their initial paperwork directly to the new office in Detroit are having to wait until AFTER their home study to get fingerprinted and that process is taking up to 3 months after their fingerprinting. Wow, I guess I won't complain about my 6-8 week wait, huh?

I had been in a slump getting stuff done, but the slight possibility of a Dec. 1 deadline has gotten me moving again. Hey, even if I do have to wait until January to be DTC, at least I won't have to stress about it before Christmas.

You guy's are soooo lucky you sent
your form in early. As of October
19th the Detroit office is working
on June 1st approval's. I'm still
not sure if we wait 3 months after
fingerprints or the receipt of our
homestudy. They also, don't have
a phone # so you can contact them.
The lady that is handling it only
works part-time. They are in the
process of finding someone full-time however, it will take 6 months
to train her!! Why they switched
to Detroit before having someone
trained is beyond me. I have gotten over the feeling of wanting to kick some butt. I keep telling
myself that someday I will be thankful for the delay or we wouldn't have received the child
we were given. I sure hope you
guy's make DTC December 1!
