Okay, not really. Josh and I both had our physicals today for the adoption. We both checked out all right and got a few pokes. Well, I got a few pokes. Me wee veins are just too blamed evasive for the amateur nurses at doctors offices who need a ton of blood from them. So, I ended up going to a lab and got a professional to do it. Much better. The nurse at the lab said that I should just come to the lab next time I needed blood drawn and not let the nurse at the doctors office do it. Yeah, I agreed.
I got my first Hepatitis A shot. That was nothing compared to the blood drawing. They didn't give Josh his shot, so he will have to go back. We had to get the Hep. A vaccine for our trip to China. Hopefully our blood work is good and we will have the medical stuff done.
I have been reading one of our required books to read, The Lost Daughters of China by Karin Evans. It is a really insightful book on why there are so many girls available for adoption. The author shares some of their story of adoption, but also goes into depth about the pain that the mothers must experience who give up their daughters. It is a huge eye-opener about the whole situation over there with the one-child policy, and it makes you think about all the babies that don't make it to the orphanages. I am halfway through, but I would highly recommend getting a copy at the local library to give you a better understanding of what these babies and moms go through.
I have been keeping up with a couple of blogs lately that the families are in China right now getting their babies. It has been exciting to read every day about what they did and saw. One is Gwen of Shenzhen! and the other is GwenBlog. Yes, both of the babies have similar names, but they are in different groups on different parts of their journey.
Friday is our 2 individual interviews for our homestudy and then Monday is our home interview. So you know what I will be doing in every spare moment . . . cleaning, weeding, etc. . . Actually, I just need to do some light touch-up cleaning, but I REALLY need to weed the yard. It is bugging me, home study or not.
